The variants compared in this blog are all top-of-the-line variants:
Size Comparison
Where the facelift version of Yaris took it to the biggest in the league, Alsvin remains the smallest in size. This Changan sedan suits the buyers wishing to switch from a hatchback to a sedan. In comparison:
- Yaris: L 4425 mm, W1730 mm, H1475 mm
- City: L 4441 mm, W1694 mm, H1498 mm
- Alsvin: L 4390 mm, W1725 mm, H 1490 mm
Exterior
Toyota Yaris gives the most futuristic and modern look with bi-xenon projection headlamps, a bulky fascia in silver and black combination, and LED fog lamps. On the other hand, Honda City has carried the same look for a couple of years, waiting for a facelift. It doesn’t come with projection headlamps or fog lights but DRLs.
Whereas Alsvin looks quite similar to the Yaris having the same combination with a bulky face but no fog lamps. City and Alsvin feature abundant character lines moving to the rear of the body, while Yaris looks straight and muscular. However, all these sedans boast a shark fin antenna at the rear roof profile.
Wheels and Boot Space
Changan Alsvin has 15-inch China-made wheels, while City and Yaris both have 15-inch BJ Trako Plus alloys. These sedans have equivalent trunk space. Figuratively, City is the champion with 510 L, Yaris has 476 L, and Alsvin has 436 L.
Interior and Features
The interior combination is transforming. In the 90s, there was a trend of darker colors, which transitioned to beige for the millennials. Now, it has again moved to the darker side, with blacks and greys being the top choices.
Yaris has a modern interior with a MID display, digital speedometer, beautiful color combos, a 9-inch floating screen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, while the City offers a laggy screen and an old-style speedometer but with a digital climate control. In comparison, Alsvin has an entry sedan package with inferior interior quality, no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but Digital climate control.
Measuring the seating capacity, all three sedans offer a passenger capacity of 5 adults. However, the City remains the top choice for a spacious cabin room.
Fuel Economy and Transmission
Yaris offers a 7-speed CVT, City offers a 5-speed CVT, but Alsvin offers a DCT, adding to its uniqueness. In addition, Alsvin tops the list in terms of fuel economy, offering 14 to 15 km/l, while both counterparts offer 12 km/l.
Safety and Other Features
The Yaris offers three airbags, while the City and Alsvin offer two each. The Yaris also offers traction control, EBD, hill assist, Sports, and ECO mode, while the City provides none of these features. Parking sensors are also missing from the City.
Another standout feature of Alsvin is that it has a sunroof, a Tire positioning system, and heated side mirrors.
Verdict
The basic intent of comparing these sedans is to give you a clear view of which one suits you the best. However, for us, Yaris leads the game, while if you are looking for an affordable option, Alsvin is the best option.
