The ongoing protests organized by the Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) against the situation in Parachinar have brought Karachi’s traffic to a near standstill. Key thoroughfares such as MA Jinnah Road have been completely shut down at Numaish Chowrangi. Similarly, Abul Hasan Isfahani Road is blocked on both sides near Abbas Town. Other major points like Five-Star Chowrangi and University Road—from Metro Shopping Center to Nipa Chowrangi—are also closed.
Traffic Diversions
Shahrah-e-Faisal, one of Karachi’s busiest roads, is blocked between Kala Pul and Malir Road. Additionally, the National Highway near Malir 15 Bridge is closed in both directions, creating severe bottlenecks in these areas.
In response, Karachi Traffic Police have enforced a series of diversions to manage the gridlock. Commuters traveling from Malir, Korangi Industrial Area, and Clifton Defence are being rerouted through Shah Faisal Colony, Rita Plot, and Shama Shopping Center. Those in Pehlwan Goth can use routes via Karsaz, Drig Road, Millennium Mall, and Johar Chowrangi to bypass the congestion.
In North Karachi, vehicles from Power House Chowrangi are being redirected onto Service Road, while Incholi Shahrah-e-Pakistan is inaccessible towards Sohrab Goth. Routes around Gulberg Chowrangi and Water Pump Chowrangi are also affected, complicating access to the Cardiac Hospital.
