In Punjab, there has been a lot of discussion about learners’ permits, driving tests, and driving licenses in the past few months. The City Traffic Police has intensified its efforts to crack down on drivers without licenses, imposing heavy fines and even lodging FIRs. Earlier this week, interim Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi announced that offenders would have to spend two to three nights in jail for breaking this traffic rule.

This crackdown has caused a heavy rush at all Khidmat centers of the traffic police, prompting authorities to take several steps to streamline the process. First, learner permits were made available at all police stations in the province. Then, the process of obtaining a learner’s permit was shifted online, followed by the announcement that citizens could renew their driving licenses online. Furthermore, the traffic police began issuing digital e-licenses to eliminate the need for people to visit the offices.

Taking things a step further, the traffic police has shared a video with the public, providing tips for passing the driving license test. In the video, police officials shared what to avoid during the test and provided easy steps to follow.

How to Successfully Pass the Driving Test in Punjab?

The official explained that there are two tracks for candidates. One track is for those who come without their personal car, and the other is for those who own a car. “During the test, the driver must move the car forward with a turn and then reverse it,” the official shared, advising to keep the car on the driver-hand side while moving forward and on the passenger-hand side while reversing.

Starting the Test

Before starting the test, follow these steps:

  • Adjust the seat
  • Wear the seat belt
  • Adjust the side view mirrors

The most challenging part of the driving test is reversing. To pass it, the official advised keeping the car on the passenger side while reversing. The police officer explained, “If you reverse the car by keeping it on the driver’s side, it will hit the cones.”

The good news is that candidates get one chance to correct their mistake. “If you are stuck while reversing, we will give you one chance to drive forward and then try reversing again by keeping the car on the left side of the track,” the officer stated.

By following these simple tips, you can easily pass the driving test in Punjab. So, if you haven’t applied for your driving license yet, do so, get your license, and avoid heavy fines and legal punishments.
