Picture this! You book a simple auto ride for Rs.62, but imagine the surprise when the bill comes out to a shocking Rs. 7.66 crore! This exact scenario happened to Deepak Tenguriya from Noida when he booked a ride through Uber India.
Expecting a normal fare of just ₹62 for his journey, Deepak was taken aback to see a whopping ₹7.66 crore on his Uber app when he reached his destination, even though the ride hadn’t ended yet.
Early in the morning @Uber_India made @TenguriyaDeepak so rich that he’s thinking of buying an Uber franchise next. Interestingly, the trip hasn’t even been canceled yet. Book an auto ride for Rs. 62 and instantly become a crorepati debtor. pic.twitter.com/UgbHVcg60t

The Story
The unbelievable incident went viral after Deepak’s friend, Ashish Mishra, shared a video on social media platform X, showing Deepak discussing the outrageous bill. In the video, Deepak reveals the astonishing amount and expresses his disbelief at the unexpected charges.
Looking at the breakdown, Deepak mentioned being charged ₹1,67,74,647 for the trip fare, with an astronomical ₹5,99,09189 attributed to waiting time. Surprisingly, only ₹75 was deducted as a promotional cost.
Deepak pointed out that waiting charges shouldn’t have been applied since the driver didn’t actually wait for him. He humorously mentioned never seeing so many zeros in a bill before.
Adding a touch of humor, Ashish joked that even a trip to the moon via Chandrayaan wouldn’t cost as much. The incident quickly went viral, with Ashish playfully suggesting that Deepak might end up buying an Uber franchise with his unexpected wealth.
After the uproar, Uber India’s Customer Support team issued an apology to Deepak and assured him that they were looking into the matter. Their response on X mentioned that they were investigating the issue and promised to provide an update soon.
Let’s hope that Deepak’s auto ride bill gets corrected promptly, and he doesn’t accidentally become a billionaire!
