National Highway & Motorway Police (NHMP) have announced that major motorways are now open for traffic. It is important to mention that these motorways were shut down due to political protests in the country. According to a notification, M-2 (Lahore to Islamabad), M-11 (Sialkot to Lahore), M-4 (Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakeem), and M-14 (Hakla to Dera Ismail Khan) are now open.
Lahore Roads Update
Meanwhile, Lahore Ring Road and Eastern Bypass have also been opened to the public. According to City Traffic Police, the traffic inside the provincial city is also normal.
So, if you are planning inter-city travel, you can easily go, as the major highways are all open now. In the last couple of days, all of the above-mentioned roads and motorways were closed for maintenance, and NHMP asked people not to plan any travel during these days.
Furthermore, due to blockades and hurdles on these highways, there was a danger of a potential fuel shortage in the country. Private petroleum companies stopped their carriers, while state-run PSO was the only company that supplied the fuel. Hence, the companies told the federal and provincial governments there could be a fuel shortage in Punjab, especially in the Lahore Division.
