China Mobile recently announced the official launch of 5G-Advanced (also known as 5.5G), a new advancement in mobile connectivity promising enhancements in speed, latency, and stability compared to regular 5G. Oppo was quick to reveal its plans to introduce 5G-Advanced (5GA or 5.5G) to its Find X7 series, and now vivo, another member of the BBK Group, is set to follow suit.

vivo’s X Fold3, X Fold 3 Pro, and X100 series will be among the initial devices to receive 5.5G through an OTA update later this month. The iQOO 12 series and iQOO Neo 9 series are also in line to have 5.5G support added to them.

A photo of a vivo X100 operating on China Mobile’s 5.5G network surfaced on Weibo, showcasing impressive download speeds of 3619.19Mbps and upload speeds of 160.75Mbps. While these 5.5G network speed tests are remarkable, they are only a fraction of the theoretical speeds promised by the standard.
