Xiaomi, the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, has announced the release of the SU7 electric vehicle, with the goal of becoming one of the top five automakers globally. The SU7, short for ‘Speed Ultra,’ will feature ‘super electric motor technology’ and will compete with Tesla and Porsche cars.

It will offer two wheel options: 19-inch and 20-inch, with tire specifications of 245/45 R19 and 245/40 R20, respectively. The curb weight will range from 1,980 kg for the basic trim to 2,205 kg for the top trim. It will also have two powertrain options: RWD with a 220 kW motor and AWD with 495 kW.
Additionally, the electric sedan is expected to feature face recognition powered by Xiaomi’s HyperOS, compatible with both smartphones and cars.

Xiaomi has hinted at utilizing batteries from BYD for lower trims and batteries from CATL for higher trims. The top speed for the basic trim is estimated to be 210 km/h, while the top trims may reach up to 265 km/h.

Reports suggest that the Xiaomi SU7 will be priced at around $50,900.
