Earlier last year, reports emerged stating Xiaomi was developing a flip-foldable device to add to its Mix Fold lineup. This was referred to as Xiaomi Mix Flip and it was rumored to launch alongside the Mix Fold 4 later in the year.

Today, the Mix Flip has been officially certified in China by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The certification has disclosed an unexpected detail: the Mix Flip will support satellite connectivity.

The fact that it will run on Android and support 5G has also been confirmed, but these are not surprising revelations. While the certification does not reveal any specific specifications, a few have already been leaked in the past.

Rumored specs include the inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a triple camera setup similar to Oppo’s Find N3 Flip, complete with a 3x telephoto lens. It is hoped that the Mix Flip will inherit the slender design of the Mix Fold lineup. However, it may also be limited to availability only in China. Only time will tell.
